Improper Cleaner Left Damage on Marble Vanity Surface
Homeowners in Phoenix, Arizona, contacted Beyond Stone Solutions because they wanted their chemical-damaged marble vanity restored. Unfortunately, they were not aware that any type of calcium-based natural stone, including marble, is susceptible to etch damage and discoloration from acid-based cleaners. Within minutes of applying the cleaner, the finish of the countertop was ruined.
The great thing about natural stone is that, in most cases, it can be repaired and restored instead of replaced, unlike many other types of surfaces. Marble restoration is a multi-step process that wows most homeowners.
Our Marble Restoration Process
Our first step to restore this chemical-damaged marble vanity was to mask and protect the surfaces surrounding our work area. Next, we honed the surface of the marble to remove the damaged layer of stone. As we worked, we replaced the abrasives with progressively finer grits to achieve a beautiful, reflective finish. Our final step was to apply a high-quality impregnating sealer to inhibit staining.
The homeowners were fascinated by the expertise of our highly trained restoration team and the fabulous transformation they were able to achieve. Their countertop went from looking as if it were damaged beyond repair to looking like it should be on display in a showroom.
