Challenge: Unsightly Saltillo
The exterior Saltillo on this Scottsdale property had a failing topical sealer, ground in dirt, and signs of wear due to exposure to the elements. The property owner wanted us to deep clean the tiles and grout lines and remove the old sealer without using any harsh chemicals.
Our Solution: Media Blasting and Sealing
Our first step was to mask and protect surrounding areas. To remove surface contaminants and the topical sealer and prepare the surface for resealing, a process called dustless media blasting was used. It is a forcible propulsion of a stream of crushed, recycled glass.
Once the surface was completely cleaned and prepped, we generously saturated the Saltillo with a professional solution called Dry Treat Intensifia to bring out the color and provide it with superior stain protection. For this job, water and oil absorption protection is guaranteed by warranty to last for at least five years. This process made a dramatic difference in the appearance of these Saltillo, as you can see in the images.

About Dry Treat
Most sealers and enhancers used on exterior surfaces in Arizona will break down and fade within a couple of years. The reason we prefer using Dry Treat sealers on exterior surfaces is that it can be expected to last much longer before another application is needed (although it is still recommended to be professionally deep cleaned every one to two years). There are some Dry Treat sealers that come with five, fifteen, or twenty-five year written warranties against the absorption of water and oil, but only if the sealer is applied by a Dry Treat accredited applicator and a regular cleaning schedule is maintained. Beyond Stone Solutions is a Dry Treat accredited applicator, and we will be happy to provide proof of treatment for your records, as well as answer any questions you may have about Dry Treat sealers and products.
