Challenge: Someone Applied an Improper Sealer
Homeowners in Paradise Valley hired The Green Room Landscape Design to make over their outdoor living spaces. The design firm called us to work with them on this project after they noticed an improper topical sealer had been applied to the exterior flagstone deck and pool area. The sealer had turned white and was flaking and peeling. This is one of the most common issues we see throughout Arizona. The environmentally-conscious homeowners wanted us to strip the old sealer without using any toxic chemicals.
Our Solution: Media Blasting and Dry Treat Intensifia
First, we protected the surfaces surrounding our work area with masking tape and plastic. Then, we used a process called dustless media blasting, a vigorous propulsion of abrasive media, to strip the topical sealer and prepare the flagstone for a new application of sealer. Finally, we restored the beautiful, natural color in the flagstone by resealing it with Dry Treat Intensifia. This highly recommended professional sealer also provides superior stain protection.

About Dry Treat
Most sealers and enhancers used on exterior surfaces in Arizona will break down and fade within a couple of years. The reason we prefer using Dry Treat sealers on exterior surfaces is that it can be expected to last much longer before another application is needed (although it is still recommended to be professionally deep cleaned every one to two years). Dry Treat warranties are only valid if the sealer is applied by a Dry Treat accredited applicator and a regular cleaning schedule is maintained.
