Signs of Wear in High Traffic Areas
When homeowners in Scottsdale, Arizona noticed signs of wear on their marble floor, they knew Beyond Stone Solutions should be the company to call for marble polishing services. During our free consultation, we inspected the floor very closely for any minor chips or dings that needed to be filled in or any other damage. Other than the unsightly traffic patterns on the marble in high use areas, the floor was in great condition. We explained that we could achieve any finish they wanted, from a soft and velvety honed finish to a high polish or something in between. They decided to keep their polished finish, without the dullness and light scratches, of course!
Our Refinishing Process
Before we started working, we protected the surfaces surrounding our work area using painter’s tape and plastic. We honed the surface of the stone to remove a very thin upper layer, virtually erasing all the damage. This left the floor with a matte finish. To achieve the highly reflective, glossy finish the owners wanted, we polished using a series of progressively finer grits. Once the floor was polished, we cleaned and applied a coat of impregnating sealer to inhibit any potential staining.
The homeowners said the results were stunning. We advised them to schedule services with us periodically, because recleaning, repolishing, and resealing would help keep their floors looking the way they wanted all the time.
